Civil Litigation

Civil Litigation

Civil litigation refers to the legal process of resolving disputes between individuals, businesses, or other entities through the court system. This type of litigation covers a broad range of disputes, including contract disputes, personal injury claims, property disputes, employment disputes, and more.

The process typically begins with one party (the plaintiff) filing a complaint in court against another party (the defendant), alleging that the defendant caused harm or injury in some way. The defendant then has the opportunity to respond to the complaint, and the case proceeds through various stages, including discovery (the exchange of information between the parties), pre-trial motions, and ultimately, a trial if the parties cannot reach a settlement.

During the trial, both parties present evidence and arguments to support their positions, and a judge or jury decides the outcome of the case based on the applicable law and the facts presented. If one party is unhappy with the outcome of the trial, they may have the option to appeal the decision to a higher court.
